History

ADC, SA was founded in 2013 as a result of the merger between Africom Lda. and Delta Trading & Companhia Lda. Both companies have a rich history in Mozambique since their foundation in 1996 and 1995 respectively.

Africom was founded by Mr. Mhamud Charania, Chairman of the Board of Directors of ADC, as part of a strategic investment to develop business in the FMCG area in order to create jobs and serve the people of Mozambique.

Delta Trading was founded by the Rawjee family, who after an absence from the country of about 30 years decided to return and invest in Mozambique.

Both companies know success in their field of business and, over time, the market forces and consumer demand caused the business of both companies to be similar in terms of size, market share and product offering.

With regards to their similar success, in 2006, the two companies took the decision to form a partnership and develop into other streams together, which primarily included ventures in the area of FMCG and property development.

In 2011 both companies decided to further build upon their alliance and partnership by leveraging their size of the business, locations, and finances, etc. to continue adding value to the business of both companies and dominating the FMCG sector together as the two largest FMCG companies in Mozambique.

In 2013, both owners agreed that the benefits of their mutual partnership and success suggested that it made sense to formalize and unite their partnership which led to the merger of both companies and creation of what we know today as ADC, S.A.
